Your Tomorrow Today Specialists
in Educational Amenity Provision Christmas
Holidays
While
a little nasty over Christmas the weather really picked up for the last
week of my holiday and I hope it did for yours as well. I caught my first Rainbow Trout on Lake Rotoiti, great fun even if the costs worked out to be around $300.
Waitakere
Architects enjoyed a great 2004 with some notable successes, or that’s
what we believe Great ERO Report
It
was good of John Davies, Principal of Blockhouse Bay Primary, to drop by
and provide a copy of the school’s latest ERO report in which they make
comment on the information centre in a very positive light as positively
affecting the teaching styles and student outcomes.
It is nice to receive positive feedback and feel we are adding
value. We have recently completed concept drawings for the
School’s next major project, a performing arts centre. Superloo
Likewise
the Kedgley renovation project, including the superloo concept, has been
very well received and was featured in the last Ministry of Education’s
Auckland Network Team publication November 2004. Many others have adopted this idea because it is economical sense and gives a solution much wider than just a toilet upgrade. We have completed a like development at Mangere College and we are pleased to have very positive feedback from students regarding safety and hygiene.
Superloo Glen Eden
Our
work at Glen Eden Intermediate is going well, with Stage 1 opening next
week and stage two under way, this also incorporates a superloo concept. Permanent Relocatables
And
a new approach to “What do we do with those relocatable classrooms”
where to date most have looked to have them removed and replaced. At Glen
Eden we are making the relocatables permanent, a totally different
approach and we will report on this in the future. Admin Opening
The
new admin/staff amenity at Rosehill Intermediate opens this week also and
we believe is a great value for money improvement to the School. Building Replacement
The
building replacement policy application by Avondale Intermediate is with
the Ministry of Education and we are hopeful this will be successful and
will give a sensible solution to Rota and his staff and pupils in 2005. 10 Year Plans
We
are continuing to prepare our written revisions of the 10 Year Plan and
these are very well received and easier to understand thankfully.
Certainly comments from auditors and others are most positive, we
would be pleased to assist with yours. We
hope you all enjoyed a great break and we look forward to continuing to
bring you our specialist architectural school services in 2005. News Letter Part 2
Can
you believe 2004 is gone and we are zooming into 2005 already. Thanks
to you all, Waitakere Architects have enjoyed a very successful year
already with many projects we have been extremely pleased to have been
involved in. It is great to
feel we are making a difference. We
have put a lot of effort into developing further our quality management
processes and to raising the bar in the delivery of construction
documentation, and believe our service in this area is now as good as the
best available and we will continue to improve and refine the processes
and undertake regular reviews. Likewise
the delivery of construction observation and contract administration
continues to improve and this has required a big effort to come up to
speed with new construction contract regulations. It
is comforting to see over 95% of our projects completed on time and 100%
on budget, given clients’ changes are not included, and when this has
occurred clients have made decisions directly themselves with all relevant
information provided. We
have worked on many projects of note. We
have renewed our involvement with retirement home projects and enjoyed
these immensely, it is funny how “The Trendy” companies in this area
of the market have been fired for their big reputation and now a number of
past customers have engaged us to “sort it out” so as to speak. The
fuel industry continues to develop and we were the Architects to
Progressive Countdown Hamilton in the development of their new Countdown
Petrol outlet associated with the supermarket.
Overseas experience indicates that this direction will continue,
hopefully we can mention our involvement and develop further some of the
environmental aspects of these interesting projects. Our
involvement with schools continues to be a passion and we have enjoyed our
immense workload in this field.
